How to turn off auto period after double-space on Mac

Not everyone would like to have a period inserted in the text after a double space is added, but this is the default behavior of macOS on your Mac.

If you are a programmer, especially a Python programmer, you might add two spaces or more many times, and having a dot inserted can be irritating.

To turn off this setting, follow the below steps,

  1. Click on the Apple logo  on your Mac Menu bar and select System Settings.
  2. Select Keyboard from the sidebar.
  3. Now click on Edit next to Spelling Keyboard or edit button next to b.
  4. Disable - "Add period with double-space".
  5. Click done.

Note: The example is demonstrated on macOS 13.2 Ventura.

I hope you found this helpful. If yes, please add a comment.
