Method 1: Using chmod Command
- Open Terminal from your Applications folder or by searching for it using Spotlight.
- Navigate to the directory containing the file or folder you want to change permissions for.
Syntax:
cd path/to/your/file_or_folder - Use the chmod command to change the permissions.
Syntax:
chmod [permissions] [file_or_folder]
Example:
chmod 755 myfile.txt

Method 2: Using Finder
- Open Finder and navigate to the file or folder you want to change permissions for.
- Right-click on the file or folder and select Get Info.
- In the Info window, scroll down to the Sharing & Permissions section.
- Click the lock icon and enter your administrator password to make changes.
- Use the dropdown menus to change the permissions for each user or group.
Method 3: Using Get Info

- Right-click on the file or folder and select Get Info.
