If you are working on a rich or a plain text file TextEdit App on a Mac and want to save the file as Microsoft Word extension .docx follow the below steps:
- Once you are ready to save your new file in TextEdit, press Command ⌘ + S
- Now add a file name and from the format file drop-down select: Word 2007 (.docx) Document
- You can also select from other Options:
Word 2007 ( docx) Document Word 2003 (xml) Document Word 97 (doc) Document - Click Save.
- If you have Microsoft Word installed on your Mac, the file will now open in it.
