Change the Size of History in Windows Terminal (Updated for Windows 11)


If you want more number of lines to be retained as history in the Windows Terminal app, you can follow the below steps.

  1. Open the Terminal app.
  2. Now click on the down-arrow ▼ next to the tab button.
  3. Select Settings.

  4. From the sidebar under Profiles select Default.
  5. Now scroll down and select Advanced under Additional Settings.
  6. Change the value of History Size: default is 9001.

  7. Click Save.

This will change the number of lines displayed when you scroll up for all your Shells - PowerShell, CMD, Azure, Bash, and so on!
