If you are working on a file in the TextEdit app on the Mac and you are unable to edit the text in the file, well you may have mistakenly selected the "Prevent Editing" option under Edit menu.
Fix:
- Go to Edit and select "Allow Editing"
- Now you should be able to edit the text in the file.
