Fix - A JavaScript error occurred in the main process - Microsoft Teams

If you are trying to access Microsoft Teams on your Windows 7/8/10/11 Operating System and you get a JavaScript pop-up error that says "error occurred in the main process" there here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try to fix the issue.

A JavaScript error occurred in the main process - uncaught exception

Step 1: Clear Teams cache

The first thing that you should do is close the Teams app and open Run and open location %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams and delete all folders within it and try to login to Teams again.

Step 2: Check for Updates

Make sure that your Teams app is up-to-date.

Step 3: Stable Internet Connection

Make sure that you have a stable internet connection, try to access Teams using a different connection if possible.

Step 4: Check Proxy Settings.

The way you have configured Proxies on your device can cause issues with Teams, make sure they are set correctly.

Step 5: Firewall and Antivirus.

Make sure the firewall or antivirus on your system is not blocking access to Teams.

Step 6: Reinstall Teams.

Try to un-install Teams and reinstall it.

Note: If you are using Windows 7 or 8, it is better to upgrade to Windows 10/11 as they are out of service and no longer receive security updates.
