If you are on an Application Window say Safari or Chrome or Microsoft Excel and you want to make the window fill screen, you can make use of the keyboard shortcut Function + F keys.
As an alternative, you can also make use of the keys Control + Command + F to enter full screen if you are using an external keyboard (tested - it also works on macOS Ventura on a Macbook)
