In order to limit the number of rows to scroll back in macOS terminal, follow the below steps,

  1. Open Terminal Application,
  2. Go to Menu: Terminal -> Preferences...
  3. Click on Profiles tabs and select Window,
  4. In ScrollBack section, change “Limit number of rows to” instead of "Limit to available memory" as per your need
  5. Close Preferences
