How to Detect Connection type (2g,3g,4g,Wifi) for Android Application




Detect Android Data Connection type 2g, 3g, 4g or Wifi


If you want to check what state of your Android Network Device, you can get it using ConnectivityManager Class file from android.net package.

Using ConnectivityManager you can,

    1. Determine Network Connectivity changes.

    2. It provides API for querying the coarse-grained or fine-grained state of the available networks

    3. Monitor Network Connections like Wi-fi , GPRS, 2G, 3G, 4G etc.

    4. Send BroadCast messages when network Connection changes.

    5. Detects failure to switch from one Network Connectivity to another.
