Disable Chrome Notification bell from Mac OS X menu bar


If you see a bell icon at the right side of your Mac OS X menu bar then its "Chrome Notifications icon". This icon means that the Notification option in Google Chrome is ON and whenever a notification is received from extensions and widgets installed on Google Chrome browser (example: Gmail, Google Drive, Google Now, or any Web-App/Widget/Extensions) you will receive a notification alert.

How to disable Chrome Notifications on Mac OS X?
  1. Open Chrome Browser.
  2. You should be able to see the bell icon on your menu bar.
  3. Click on the icon, you would now see the widget real-estate with settings gear and DND icon.
  4. Click on Do Not Disturb icon
  5. You would now see a strike-offed bell icon now.
  6. You will not be notified of any notifications you receive.
How to remove/ turn off Chrome Notifications from the Mac OS X menu bar?

If you want to remove this icon form your menu bar then follow the below steps :

  1. Open Chrome Browser.
  2. You should now see the bell icon on the menu bar next to your wifi, Bluetooth icons.
  3. Go to Menu => Chrome => Hide Notifications Icon
  4. That's it!
